Ethics and Safety

Since participating students in our fair will be eligible for the Canada-wide science fair (CWSF), we encourage all registering to follow these guidelines for ethics and safety.
  • Please refer to the following website for official CWSF information on science fair project ethics and safety: https://mystemspace.ca/start-a-project/safety-and-ethics/

All projects involving living things (animals, people) will need to go through the NWORSF ethics approval.
  • Please email [email protected], with "Ethics" in the subject line, to confirm that your project won't be disqualified due to unsafe or unethical practices.

Ethics

An ethics approval will establish that the well-being and privacy of participants were protected during the study. The ethics approval should be done prior to conducting a study involving testing on humans or animals, and will need to be presented along with the project at the day of the fair.

Safety

Projects at the fair will be examined to ensure proper safety precautions are met to protect the student, the participants of the study, and visitors at the fair. A safety approval will be made before and during the fair, since it will be needed in order for the participant to be eligible for awards. See https://mystemspace.ca/start-a-project/safety-and-ethics/ for information on safe science projects.
