Science Education At Work in YOUR CommunityThe Northwestern Ontario Regional Science Fair (NWORSF) is dedicated to fostering a love of science, technology, engineering and math in Northwestern Ontario. We organize and operate a two-day science fair each spring, designed to give students the opportunity to develop skills for scientific investigation and showcase these talents to their peers and subject matter experts from across our region. In addition to the fair, we support science education in schools by providing advice, mentoring and teaching materials to teachers, and mentoring opportunities for students. We are a volunteer organization supported by generous donations by local sponsors.
On behalf of the NWORSF committee, we would like to acknowledge the following 2024 title sponsors and titanium level donors. It is donor generosity that makes NWORSF possible:
And a big Thank You to all of the individual donors. Every dollar helps grow education and passion for science in Northwestern Ontario! |

NWORSF is part of a National Program
NWORSF is an affiliate of Youth Science Canada, the organization responsible for the Canada Wide Science Fair - our national-level science competition. Each year, five of our local participants are eligible to compete on the national stage.
Connecting science-minded youth to the world!
Fair participants have the opportunity to share their enthusiasm with experts in their fields - from university professors to industry professionals. In addition, winners of our five places at the Canada Wide Science Fair (CWSF) gain the opportunity to make these connections at a national level. Past student connections made through CWSF participation include astronauts, nobel-laureates, and world-famous palaeontologists, just to name a few! The 2019 Canada-Wide Science Fair was in Fredericton, New Brunswick from May 11-17, and NWORSF students won 2 bronze and 1 silver medal!
In addition, alumni of the CWSF can apply to be on Canada's international youth science team - Youth Science Canada - Team Canada ISEF! As recently as 2018, NWORSF students have won international awards as members of this team! Remember, these connections begin with a simple love of science!

Volunteers needed!
We're always looking for new committee members, judges and volunteers with a passion for sharing their love of science! No mater your level of scientific skill, there is a role for you in our dynamic organization. Love numbers? Consider a position on our fundraising team. Love games? Why not try out a role as a leader for our beginner science olympics! Are you an NWORSF alumnus with a passion for engaging our students? Teachers would love to have you mentor budding scientists, or wow a class with the details of your amazing science career! Do you have some "mad science" skills? ;) We're always on the lookout for experts to constructively judge our regional fair!
As committee members move on to new adventures, we desperately need new ideas and motivated individuals with a passion for science to join our committee. It is more than just community service, it is an amazing opportunity to learn from our students as well, and 2 delegates/chaperones get to attend the Canada-Wide Science Fair each May!
Drop us an email at [email protected] or submit an application form down below if you are interested in any way!
